We always enjoy making these themed videos. Sometimes we have the recipe idea first, and decide on who else will make the video with Brody, or it could go the other way around. In this case with the Hawaiian Trifle with Edible Flowers, we knew we wanted to Stella to be in this episode. She and Brody were friends, and she lived across the street. The cutest part is that she was a little older than Brody, and I think he had a little crush on her. He was only 6, but the signs were there. It was really cute because he was giggling and staring at her during practice, and the shoot. She was great with him!!

Stella was definitely the perfect choice, and she was having so much fun. I would say she’s a natural in front of the camera. Also, she had some skills in the kitchen, and learned some new ones that she was very excited about. For instance, she learned how to use a mixer and make whipped cream. That’s a good one!

Now that we knew Stella was going to be in this episode, Brody and I had to get to work to create the perfect dessert. We got it, a Hawaiian Trifle with Edible Flowers! Now the fun begins, recipe development with Brody. He usually gets very creative, and wants to add random ingredients. It’s actually pretty funny. Putting the ingredients together for this one wasn’t that difficult, just all things Hawaiian. We narrowed it down to the ingredients we used which we were quite happy with.

Hawaiian Trifle with Edible Flowers

This is still one of my favorite videos that we’ve made, and we had so much fun. The kids were so intrigued and excited to eat edible flowers. There was a very slim variety for the edibles. I had a vision of lots of different flowers, and of course Hibiscus. We couldn’t find Hibiscus at any store, so we ended up with tulips and roses which did work out perfectly. There’s such a fun variety of them, and can be used in sweet and savory dishes.

Brody and Stella had a hard time standing still for this shot. They were so excited to make this dessert, and wanted to get started.

Stella is super focused since this is the first time she made whipped cream, and took her job very seriously ???? I love to see these kids learn something new, and enjoy it. What a treat!

They were layering the ingredients, and adding the pretty edible flowers throughout making the trifle. This really made the look of the dessert.

Look at those faces having such a great time. Top it off with a little more cream, macadamia nuts, toasted coconut, and more edible flowers to the top. There you have it an incredible dessert.

Yummy and looks beautiful The kids did a great job!!  Stella took the larger one home to a party, and they made a couple small ones they ate right away.
