When making Homemade Guacamole, it’s best to start with fresh ingredients. For example use firm red tomatoes, juicy limes, ripe avocados, and fluffy cilantro. Mmmm, I love cilantro.
Try to avoid avocados with brown spots, as this dulls the vibrant green of your finished product. For some reason I can’t eat them if they have brown spots. I like them ripe, green, and ready to eat.
Mash the avocado until it’s smooth. I do like to leave some chunks, because I like the texture with some chunky pieces of avocado in it.
Place all your ingredients in the bowl and mix together. Don’t forget the salt, pepper, and a squeeze of lime. Make sure to add the lime to taste, you won’t want to add to much. This can over power the flavor of the other ingredients.
This goes perfectly with, chips, crackers, or veggies. If you’re little ones love avocados try adding it to the spring rolls in the Spring Roll Lunchbox.

One of the most frustrating things when buying avocados, is buying them too ripe. I’ve done this so many times until I figured how to detect the overripe ones. The avocado on the left is perfect inside, and the one on the right most likely is browning and mushy on the inside. If you pick that small stem out and it’s green underneath, then the avocado is still ripe and green inside. If you pick that little stem out and it’s brown underneath, it will most likely be overripe. It works for me, and I hope it helps you pick out the best avocados.
