The Powerhouse Protein Smoothie is exactly how it sounds. This delicious smoothie is packed with protein, and it tastes heavenly. There’s no added sugar, and it gets the sweetness from the yogurt, dates, and the bananas. This shake reminds me of my childhood. Have you ever had a date shake from Hadley’s? You know that stop on the way to the Palm Springs, CA. I always looked forward to that stop!! Mmmm! 🙂 It tastes similar, and add a few more dates and there you have it.
Brody loves this Powerhouse Protein Smoothie. We made them 7 days straight for his friends, and guests for parties during football season. I’m ok with this, just don’t ask me for an ice cream everyday. LOL
Try making this protein smoothie for breakfast, or as an after school snack. Keeps the kids happy, and sustained until dinner.

Powerhouse Protein Smoothie
Made with these healthy ingredients you’ll feel good giving to your little ones.
- frozen vanilla yogurt
- frozen bananas
- milk or milk alternative
- almond butter
- dates
- chia seeds
I got so lucky browsing the Dollar Store, and found this cool football glass. It was perfect for what I had in mind for this recipe. I wanted this recipe to be great for kids and the big guys, since this is a football theme.
Brody powerhouse’d this one in about 2 minutes. He’s not a big guy, but he sure can eat. It’s fun to sneak in the extra healthy nuts, seeds, and natural sweeteners, like the dates. Try some of our other smoothie recipes.

Powerhouse Protein Smoothie
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt frozen
- 1 Medium ripe sliced banana frozen
- 3/4 cups milk (or milk alternative)
- 2 tablespoons almond butter
- 3 Large dates pitted
- 2 tablespoons chia seeds
- whipped cream used to top the smoothie
- sprinkle Wilton Green Cake Sparkles sprinkle onto the whipped cream
Instructions
- Add all ingredients into the blender at one time, with frozen yogurt on the top.
- Blend until smooth and creamy, and all lumps are gone.
- Pour into a glass, and top with the whipped cream and green flakes.
