How To Make Red Velvet 4th of July Brownies
Always start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking dish with parchment paper and set it aside.

Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat until brown and nutty. Transfer the melted butter to a large mixing bowl and add the chocolate chips.
Allow the chocolate chips to sit in the heated butter for a minute to soften, and then stir until the ingredients are completely combined.

Add the salt and both sugars (white and brown) to the same mixing bowl and whisk well.

Add the eggs and vanilla. Whisk again until combined and smooth. Next, mix the red food dye into the brownie mixture until a deep burgundy red color is created.

Fold the cocoa powder and flour into the batter until fully combined and thick in consistency. You can add any extra red dye at this stage if you want a deeper red color, especially if you feel that the brownies are too brown.

Add the red, white, and blue M&Ms to the bowl of batter and gently fold them into the brownie batter.

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly. Add extra M&M’s on top of the batter for better visibility of the festive red, white and blue colors.
Bake these brownies for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick or knife inserted comes out clean.

Once baked, remove the brownies from the oven and let them cool completely in the baking dish.

Lift the baked brownie slab out of the baking dish by the parchment paper overhanging and place it on a kitchen board or another level and hard surface. Cut the brownie slab into squares and serve!

Storage Instructions for Red Velvet 4th of July Brownies
Here are my storage tips for keeping these 4th of July treats as tasty, moist, and fudgy as the day they were made:
Room Temperature
These patriotic brownies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-5 days. If you want to ensure that they don’t dry out, wrap them individually in plastic wrap or foil and store them in an airtight container.
In The Fridge
Storing your brownies in the fridge will extend their shelf-life by 1-2 weeks. I recommend that you wrap each brownie square in plastic wrap or foil and then store them in an airtight container or sealable bag in the fridge. This will prevent the brownies from drying out.
Only store your 4th of July brownies in the fridge once they are completely cool.
Freezing
Once completely cool, store individually wrapped brownies in an airtight container or freezer-safe bag in the freezer for up to 3 months. Thaw the brownies overnight in the fridge and enjoy them chilled or let them rest at room temperature first.
