How To Make Spider-Themed Cake Balls

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and spray or line a 13×9-inch baking dish.

In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the cake mix, water, oil, and eggs.

Mix well, scraping the sides of the bowl often.

Pour the cake batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.

Bake the cake for 28-30 minutes or until golden brown and set in the center. Allow the cake to cool completely.

Once cool, crumble the cake with your fingers.

Place the crumbled cake in a bowl of a stand mixer together with 1 cup of the premade vanilla icing.

Mix just until combined.

Using a small ice cream scoop or a tablespoon, scoop out the batter and shape it into balls.  Place the vanilla cake balls on a parchment-lined baking tray and repeat until all the cake balls have been added.

Chill the cake balls in the fridge or freezer until you’re ready to decorate them.

Melt the white candy melts in a microwave safe bowl until smooth.

Using a spoon, dip each cake ball into the melted white candy melts.  Tap the excess on the side of the bowl and place the coated balls back on the parchment.  Repeat this for all cake balls.

Once the white candy melts have set, they can be decorated.

Melt the black candy melts in a microwave safe bowl until smooth.  Transfer the mixture to a piping bag and cut a small hole in the end.

Carefully pipe a small head, bigger body and eight legs for each spider on the top of each cake ball.

Allow your freshly decorated Halloween cake balls to set before serving as part of your Halloween party food spread!
