RICE KRISPIES GOLD NUGGETS

We only made half of this recipe, and it fills a plate. If you're planning to have guests then a full recipe with probably work out better for you. Also, add the M&M's quickly and fold them in. They tend to start melting, and could get messy. The Rice Krispies Gold Nuggets will taste chocolatey, and have the fun green color from the candy shell.

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons butter or margerine we used butter
  • 1 10 1/2 ounce miniature marshmallows (10 1/2oz package)
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1/2 cup mini M & M's you will need to separate the green from the other colors in the bag.
  • 1-2 teaspoon vegatable oil or shortening
  • 1/4 cup Wilton green candy melts drizzle for the top
  • sprinkle Wilton gold sprinkles sprinkle for the top
  • cooking spray for your hands

Instructions

  • Melt butter or margarine in a large sauce.
  • When melted, add the marshmallow until completely melted and smooth.
  • Pour in the Rice Krispies and the mini m&m's folding, and stirring until well mixed.
  • Let cool for a minute so you can work, and touch with your hands. Just a minute or 2.
  • Spray your hands with the cooking spray, making sure it covers the palm or your hands. Otherwise, the marshmallow with be very sticky on your hands, and hard to mold the nuggets.
  • Scoop with you hands 1-2 tablespoons and roll them, and press them to make irregular shapes. I liked making different sizes, just like gold nuggets.
  • Time to drizzle the candy melts. Put 1/4 cup green candy melts into a microwave safe bowl, and heat in 30 second bursts until melted. A few lumps not melted are okay, just keep stirring and they will melt.
  • Add a teaspoon canola oil, or shortening to the hot candy melts and stir in. This will thin it out, and it will be easy to work with. Don't use too much or it will become runny. When you hold the spoon above dish, it should stream off slowly.
  • Now using the spoon, or a piping bag. Start to drizzle over rice krispies gold nuggets. Use how much you would like to make your design.
  • Sprinkle the gold sprinkles over the nuggets while the drizzled candy melts are still wet, so it will stick.
  • Let them dry, and they're ready to eat.
