Servings: 10 puff pastries

Ingredients

  • 1 package refrigerated puff pastry dough
  • 1 8 ounce cream cheese
  • 1 egg
  • ¾ cup white granulated sugar
  • 5 large strawberries sliced in half
  • Powdered Sugar to finish

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F. Line a 9×13-inch baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Make the cream cheese filling: beat the cream cheese, granulated sugar and egg together until smooth.
  • Next, prepare the puff pastry: unroll the dough and cut out heart shapes using a large heart-shaped cookie cutter.
  • Place the whole heart cutouts onto a baking sheet lined with baking parchment. Spoon or pipe the cheesecake filling into the center of each pastry.
  • Bake the puff pastry hearts for 18-20 minutes or until puffed up and golden brown. Remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly.
  • While the puff pastries cool, slice each strawberry in half and then use a smaller heart-shaped cutter to create heart-shaped strawberries. Make as many heart-shaped strawberries as you have puff pastries.
  • Once the pastries have cooled slightly, place a heart strawberry in the center of each pastry.
  • Dust the pastries with powdered sugar before serving.
  • Serve your cream cheese heart puff pastries warm or at room temperature.
